Celebrate First Friday Festival & Chinese New Year at the Grand Sierra Resort

Grand Sierra Resort is the place to be February 3-5 with a full weekend of entertainment and celebration.  The First Friday Festival, a property wide party, offers a spectacular festival of entertainment, great food and giveaways .  Celebrate a special weekend of unique cultural experiences and with Chinese New Year and the Year of the Dragon.  The lantern festival, dragon parade and special packages offer a full weekend of entertainment for the entire family.

First Friday kicks-off at 6 pm with giveaways of computers, iPods, iPads and free-play every 30 minutes in the casino.  Experience what the GSR’s fabulous restaurants have to offer with dining specials of $12.99 in all restaurants.  Finish off the evening dancing to live entertainment in Xtreme with the Spazmatics and DJ Baby Chino playing alternating sets or head down to the casino floor for a Chinese New Year celebration of lion dances, dragon dances, Chinese drummers, jugglers and more.

Chinese New Year Specials start at $98 and include 2 nights stay, dining credits, match play on table games and Fun Quest tokens.

Experience the Magic of Chin-Chin in the Grand Theater, Friday, Feb. 3 at 9 pm.   Named the “Best Magician” by the San Francisco Bay Guardian’s “Best of the Bay” 2009, Chin-Chin has been performing magic since the age of 7.  Fun for all ages; tickets are $5.50.

The GSR Lion Dance-Off takes place Saturday, Feb. 4 at 7 pm in the Grand Theater. The event is free and open to the public.

The Lion Dance and Kung Fu demonstration takes place in the Silver State Pavilion, Saturday Feb. 4 at 11 am. Sure to delight all ages, watch as the dancers of Lion Dance/Kung Fu Association of Yau Kung Moon entertain with their stunning costumes and talent.  This event is free and open to the public on a first-come first-serve basis.

Other activities include a Feng Shui workshop with Sasha Lee, performances by acoustic soloist Wilson Wong, Little Swan Dance Troupe, Hai Yai Jackson Chinese Dance, violinist by WollfsCry! and the Honey Circuit Band.
