The 2011 Nevada Chamber Music Festival Begins Tonight!

Date:

We hope you’re looking forward to the eighth annual Nevada Chamber Music Festival as much as we are!

Tonight at 7:00 p.m. at UNR’s Nightingale Concert Hall, pianist Orion Weiss will get the Festival underway with a solo piano recital, featuring the same works he will be playing next week at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Music by Bach, Michael Brown, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms and Martinu is on the program. Read all the details at the RCO website, where you can also see RCO Executive Director Scott Faulkner’s video introduction to the program, as well as a rather humorous interview with Mr. Weiss.

Festival tickets can be purchased online, or by calling the RCO office at (775) 348-9413. You can also buy tickets at the door for any of the eleven concerts starting 45 minutes before each performance.

At the RCO website you’ll find an overview of the Festival, individual pages for each of the concerts, biographical information on our performers, videos, program notes, and much more.

Coming up tomorrow – Tuesday, December 27 at 12:00 noon at Nightingale Concert Hall – Festival pianist Robert Levin will present a lecture-performance titled “Destiny vs. Free Will in Classical Music.”

On Wednesday, December 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Nightingale Concert Hall, we’ll present our Masterworks Concert No. 1, with music by Dvorák, Shostakovich, Schumann and Brahms.

If you didn’t see Forrest Hartman’s article on the Festival in yesterday’s Reno Gazette-Journal, it’s now available online.

We look forward to seeing you at the Nevada Chamber Music Festival!
