SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

One of northern Nevada’s most celebrated events returns this fall with a new beneficiary for 2011, the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. Joining Southern Wine & Spirits for the first time ever, the Boys & Girls Club is proud to be the official benefactor of the annual Vintage Nevada event, Friday, Nov. 11 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Downtown Reno Events Center. Now in its 21st year, Vintage Nevada invites locals to enjoy hundreds of specialty wines, beers and spirits, alongside a large selection of hors d’oeuvres, entrees and desserts in an effort to raise funds for one of the region’s largest non-profit organizations, which helps more than 10,000 children annually in the Truckee Meadows. Tickets are available now at www.VintageNevada.com for $45; $50 at the door.

“We’re happy to pair with the Boys & Girls Club for this year’s Vintage Nevada event knowing the great work they do for Nevada’s youth and the community as a whole,” said Donna Wylie of Southern Wine and Spirits. “We’d also like to thank our sponsors the Eldorado, Harrah’s Reno, KRNV News 4, the Reno Gazette-Journal, RSCVA, Scolari’s, and the Silver Legacy. Without them, this event wouldn’t be possible.”

In addition to an evening full of fun with some of the community’s top charitable supporters, the 21st annual Vintage Nevada event features wines from around the world, specialty beers and lagers and premium liquors from a variety of purveyors. Vintage Nevada also offers attendees festive hors d’oeuvres, delicious entrees and elegant desserts from Reno’s finest casino restaurateurs and retail establishments as well as an exciting raffle and auction offering culinary trips, VIP winery visits and other cultural experiences.

“We’re very thankful to Southern Wine and Spirits for selecting us as the new beneficiary of such a well-established, longstanding community event,” said Mike Wurm of Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. “Vintage Nevada is a great partner in the Club’s annual fundraising events, creating an innovative way for the adults of our community to give back to the thousands of Club kids in northern Nevada.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is the leading non-profit youth services agency in northern Nevada. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for children, ages 0 to 18, in the Truckee Meadows through afterschool, summer and track break programming and services. The Club is committed to creating healthy children, in body and mind, with a sense of competence, usefulness, responsibility, belonging and influence, through diverse programs and community involvement. Founded in 1976, the Club now serves nearly 10,000 children at 18 sites throughout the Truckee Meadows. At all of its sites, the Boys & Girls Club strives to provide kids with positive and productive outlets for their energy with programs such as afterschool tutoring, character and leadership development, healthy lifestyles, athletics and art. And while the Club invests nearly $500 annually into each of its members, memberships cost just $20 per year, providing equal opportunity to all children in the community.
