SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. – Local artists will be displaying and demonstrating techniques in various art mediums, Sunday August 21, 2011, at Buckland Station, part of Fort Churchill State Historic Park. Sculptures and paintings are two of the several art mediums to be represented at the Buckland art show. Art will be displayed outside Buckland Station and Buckland Station will also be open for walk-through, video tours.

WHAT: Buckland Station Art Show

WHEN: Sunday, August 21, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the event will repeat every third Sunday in September and October weather permitting.

WHERE: Buckland Station is located nine miles south of Silver Springs on Hwy 95A. Continue past the Fort Churchill State Park turn-off, over the railroad tracks and Buckland Station will be on the left. It is a two-story white building.

WHO: This event is open to the public and is hosted by Fort Churchill State Historic Park.

COST:  There is no charge to attend the art show. Buckland Station tours are $1.00 per person, cash only. Children under 12 are free.

MORE:  Buckland Station was built in 1870 by Samuel Buckland out of lumber salvaged from Fort Churchill after the fort was decommissioned in 1869. Buckland Station was also a Pony Express and Overland Stage stop for westward emigrants.
