SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
The City of Reno will be hosting an open house meeting Tuesday to showcase bridge types and preliminary themes for the Virginia Street Bridge Replacement Project.
The open house will be held at the McKinley Arts and Culture Center at 925 Riverside Drive from 4 to 7 p.m.
The meeting will provide the public the opportunity for an update and to contribute feedback on the project. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to stop by any time during the meeting to see what bridge types and general concepts are being considered, learn about the process of the current replacement project, provide input and get involved in the future of a Reno icon.
After over a century of use, the Virginia Street Bridge is showing signs of extreme wear and must be replaced to ensure continued public safety. The City of Reno, in partnership with the Truckee River Flood Management Project and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has implemented a plan to replace the bridge while respectfully preserving its distinguished history.
