City of Reno announces new finance director

The City of Reno has hired Robert Chisel as the new finance director. He will begin his employment with the city on July 25.

Chisel, a Reno resident, is coming from the Nevada Department of Transportation, where he is currently the assistant director of administration. Prior to that, he was the chief accountant for the Department of Transportation. He has been with the Department of Transportation for nearly 13 years and has been employed by the State of Nevada for over 17 years.

“Robert has the experience and expertise of managing and directing financial functions, including overseeing critical divisions such as accounting, financial forecasting, financial management and information services,” said Reno City Manager Andrew Clinger. “He has also managed a portfolio of over $1 billion in bonds. His in-depth knowledge will be a great asset to our team.”

Chisel has a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an accounting major from the University of Nevada, Reno and has previously been a Certified Public Accountant. He is presently a member of the Amber Alert Committee, the Nevada Broadband Task Force and the Nevada Communication Steering Committee.
