WARC Celebrates Grand Opening of New Thrift Store

Date:

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

Business Grand openings in our current times are like finding a real copper penny, a rare occurrence.    Very few organizations can claim they have recently celebrated an expansion. So it is cause for celebration when a non-profit anywhere in Nevada has the opportunity to celebrate a grand opening.

One of these rare and hopefully the first of many grand openings by a nonprofit in northern Nevada will occur on Wednesday, March 30 when WARC will celebrate the grand opening of its newest store in the Evergreen Shopping Center at 2356 Oddie Blvd., in Sparks.

“It is remarkable that a non-profit organization is expanding its business in these current economic times,” said LaVonne Brooks, CEO and president of WARC. “We were presented with an opportunity that we felt would advance our mission of serving people with disabilities by providing employment opportunities supporting our three thrift stores. WARC is one of our community’s oldest, locally run charities serving people with disabilities in the state. We hope Northern Nevadans will remember to support our own.”

With the grand opening of a new thrift store, Brooks has also said it is critical that they continue to receive donations of gently used items to help sustain the success of the business.

Donations can be dropped off at any three of the WARC store locations: 560 Gentry Way and 790 Sutro St. in Reno, and 2356 Oddie Blvd. in Sparks. Or, WARC will even come and pick-up your donation by calling 775-333-WARC (9272) to schedule a pick-up.  All donations are tax deductible.

WARC provides supported employment, learning, recreation and social opportunities, to people with intellectual disabilities to enable them to reach their potential.
