WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Harry Reid met today with several Davidson Fellows and their families along with Bob and Jan Davidson, founders of the Davidson Institute and the Davidson Academy in Reno.

“Bob and Jan Davidson have excelled at providing an environment for gifted students to get the attention and guidance they need to develop their skills and define their career path,” Reid said. “I thank Bob and Jan for their leadership and for the opportunities they have given the exceptional individuals I had the honor to meet today.”

The Davidson Academy opened in 2005 as a public charter school to meet the needs of exceptionally gifted students in middle and high school. The Davidson Fellows program recognizes exceptionally gifted students in the areas of math, science, literature, technology and music through scholarships up to $50,000. The program has awarded more than $4 million to 166 students over the past few years.
