After Cole Gillespie broke a scoreless tie with a third-inning fielder’s choice, Sanchez drilled a two-run double that put the Aces ahead 3-0. Reno would add eight runs over the next four frames to extend the lead to 11-0, before Tacoma broke up the shutout in the eighth.

Kevin Mulvey (7-8) tamed the Rainiers’ bats over five scoreless innings. Mulvey struck out four and walked one before handing the ball to veteran Mike Hampton, who hurled a scoreless frame in his Aces debut.

Rainiers starter Ryan Rowland-Smith (2-2) was touched up for seven runs over 4.2 innings, suffering the loss for Tacoma.

Sanchez and Ed Rogers finished a combined 7-for-10 with four RBIs, while Doug Deeds added his 12th homer of the season. Drew Macias homered and drove in four runs for Reno, which pounded out 16 hits on the evening.
